Games for Everyone: Our Commitment to Universal Accessibility

March 31, 2026

To ensure that everyone can fully enjoy the 2027 Canada Games experience, the Host Society places accessibility at the heart of its priorities.

Universal accessibility is an inclusive approach that aims to provide everyone, regardless of their abilities, with the same opportunities and a high-quality experience, whether they are independent or accompanied, in a safe environment (Source: 2025–2030 Universal Accessibility Action Plan, City of Québec).

At the 2027 Canada Games, we want to make the event accessible to everyone involved, whether directly or indirectly: athletes, spectators, volunteers…

Specifically, we are committed to:

  • Creating a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible experience for all.
  • Training volunteers and staff to ensure that all participants are treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.
  • Improve sports facilities to ensure accessibility standards, which will benefit the community after the Games.

To achieve this, we train our staff and volunteers in the principles of universal accessibility. Our volunteer program also offers accessible and tailored roles for everyone during the Games: for more details and to find a role that suits you, visit our volunteer recruitment webpage.

Accessible Infrastructure During and After the Games

Did you know that our goal is for at least 80% of our venues to be accessible? To achieve this, we are carrying out infrastructure improvement projects at our competition venues! Among other things, we are currently working with Québec City, particularly on the Pavillon Guy-Lafleur —where the Games’ hockey matches will be held—to install an accessible area for spectators with reduced mobility.

Several other projects are in the works regarding universal accessibility. To stay up to date, visit our website and follow us on social media!
