Social Cohesion Through Togetherness at the Heart of the 2027 Canada Games

July 22, 2026

At the 2027 Canada Games, we believe that sport is a powerful force for bringing people together. That is why we are committed to creating a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment where everyone can participate, collaborate, achieve their goals and thrive.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in sport and excel, regardless of their gender, abilities or personal characteristics. While progress has been made, we recognize that there is still work to be done to build an increasingly representative, accessible and inclusive sporting environment.

The Host Society of the 2027 Canada Games places togetherness at the heart of its actions. Our ambition is to make the Games an event that reflects the richness and diversity of our community.

Our Commitments and Achievements

Achievements

To foster an inclusive environment that represents the diversity of our community, we have implemented several concrete initiatives:

  • Adoption of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Policy.
  • Training employees on diversity, equity and inclusion principles to promote inclusive practices across all our activities.
  • Collaboration with the Wendat Nation to develop respectful relationships and integrate an Indigenous perspective into our initiatives.
  • Development of partnerships with community organizations in the City to support volunteer recruitment by encouraging diverse and representative participation from the community.
Commitments

We continue our efforts to ensure that our organization reflects the diversity of the City’s population. To this end, we are committed to building a team of employees and volunteers that represents this diversity by focusing on inclusive recruitment practices and maintaining a welcoming and equitable environment for everyone.
