Québec City, February 27, 2026 - Exactly one year to the day before the opening of the 2027 Canada Games, the Host Society is reaching a major milestone by officially launching its large-scale volunteer recruitment campaign.
From February 27 to March 14, 2027, the Games will welcome more than 3,500 athletes and coaches from Canada’s 13 provinces and territories to Québec City, along with thousands of accompanying staff, partners and visitors.
To deliver the most memorable Games in the history of the movement, close to 5,000 volunteers will be mobilized across some 30 strategic roles: access control, food services, transportation, social media, ceremonies, medal presentations, competition results entry and validation… and much more.
The Host Society is breaking new ground by becoming the first edition of the Canada Games to offer a family volunteer program.
This program allows a parent and their child (aged 10 to 15) to share the experience together, on the same site and in complementary roles.
While regular volunteering is open to those aged 16 and over, 14- and 15-year-olds (at the time of the Games) who are members of a sports club, community organization, or school program will also be able to contribute to the Games under the supervision of a responsible adult.
Registrations for this program must be submitted by a teacher, coach, or supervisor using the dedicated form.
👉 Interested individuals can now fill out the online registration form and indicate their preferred sectors on the Games' official website.
Presented by the Port of Québec, the symbolic milestone of “1 year before the Games” marks the start of the general mobilization.
The momentum is underway: the great sporting and human celebration of the 2027 Canada Games is being built starting now, and it is being built together.
"The Canada Games 2027 represent far more than a major sporting event: they embody our ability to come together, to celebrate our youth, and to showcase our city. At the Port of Québec, we are proud to partner in this collective momentum that will have the community pulsing to the rhythm of personal excellence.
With one year to go until the Games, we invite residents to start looking ahead to 2027 now, to embrace this collective spirit and to take part in the celebration activities so that, together, we can bring to life Games that reflect who we are and that bring us together.”
- Olga Farman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Port of Québec and 2027 Canada Games Ambassador
“With one year to go, excitement is building for the 2027 Canada Winter Games and the celebration of its 60th anniversary. First held in 1967 in Quebec City as part of Canada’s centennial celebrations, the Games continue to unite Canadians from coast to coast to coast.
The launch of the volunteer recruitment campaign marks a key milestone in the countdown, as it is the dedication and energy of volunteers that bring the Games to life. The Government of Canada is proud to support the Canada Games and the host community on the road to 2027.”
- The Honourable Adam van Koeverden, Secretary of State (Sport)
“In one year, the eyes of the entire country will be on Quebec City. We have the opportunity to showcase what makes our region strong: the commitment, solidarity, and warm hospitality of our community. I invite the people of the Capitale-Nationale region to join this great human adventure.”
- Jean-François Simard, Minister of Natural Resources and Forests and Minister Responsible for the Capitale-Nationale Region
“Volunteerism is deeply rooted in Québec City. With nearly 30,000 volunteers engaged across 614 recognized organizations in our community, we can count on generous and dedicated citizens who contribute every day to the vitality of their city. The City of Québec is committed to supporting this exceptional engagement, which is why we encourage residents to take part, as a family, in this great sporting adventure, and above all, this great human adventure that the Canada Games will be.
Volunteering is, first and foremost, an act of the heart, and we are confident that this spirit of solidarity will contribute to the success of the Games — Games that we want to be unifying and inspiring for our youth.”
- Raphaël Lebailly, Québec City Councilor associated with the Executive Committee, responsible for the 2027 Canada Games
“We are privileged as Canadians to have an institution like the Canada Games, born in 1967 as part of our centennial celebrations, that develops the Marie-Philip Poulins, Courtney Saraults and Andre De Grasses of the future. While the athletes will be in the spotlight in 2027, it will be the thousands of volunteers who are the true heroes of the Games, and who will make these Games possible. They will be the faces of the Games, welcoming visitors, supporting participants, and representing Québec City.”
- Mme Kelly-Ann Paul, President and CEO, Canada Games Council
“The Canada Games are not measured only in medals or records. They are measured in collective commitment. Every volunteer who signs up today becomes a builder of this legacy. One year out from the Games, we are issuing a clear call: Québec City has a date with history, and we need its full mobilization.”
- M. Pierre Tremblay, Vice-chair, 2027 Canada Games Host Society
