2027 Canada Games Join the Québec Capitale Climat Commitment Charter for Responsible Events

October 6, 2026

On the occasion of Green Sports Day, the 2027 Canada Games Host Society is proud to announce that it has joined the Québec Capitale Climat Commitment Charter for Responsible Events. This initiative reflects our commitment to integrating sustainable development into the planning and delivery of the Games and to contributing to the advancement of event industry practices.

Led by Québec Capitale Climat, the Charter aims to support the event industry in adopting more responsible practices. It provides a common framework that enables organizations to take action around seven key commitments and measure their progress over time. For more information about the Charter

Our commitments are already taking shape as we prepare for the Games. A carpooling platform will be available to spectators, waste sorting stations will be set up at venues, special attention will be given to local food, and surplus food will be donated to local organizations. A greenhouse gas emissions assessment will also help us measure our impact and continue improving our practices.

Through these initiatives, we want to use the Games as an opportunity to evolve the way we do things and implement practices that can continue to inspire beyond the event.
