On September 30, marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we take a moment to honour the memory of the children who never returned from residential schools, to acknowledge survivors, as well as their families and communities, and to continue our collective learning journey.
This day invites us to gain a deeper understanding of the history and impact of the residential school system on First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. It reminds us that reconciliation is a journey built over time through listening, reflection, learning, and dialogue.
As the 2027 Canada Games prepare to come to life in Québec City and Wendake, this day holds special significance. It reminds us of the importance of building relationships rooted in respect, openness, and mutual understanding. We believe in the unifying power of sport: its ability to create spaces for connection, foster well-being, and celebrate the rich diversity of cultures that make up our society.
