The 2027 Canada Games Host Society is launching a call for applications today, inviting Quebec artists and creators to take on a mandate of exceptional symbolic significance: the artistic design of the 2027 Winter Games medals.
With just over a year to go before the Games return to their birthplace after 60 years, we are looking for the creative vision that will shape the ultimate symbol of achievement desired by the 3,500 athletes expected in Quebec City. More than mere objects, these medals will embody the culmination of thousands of hours of training, perseverance, and dreams.
For this project, the Host Society has already selected a specialized partner to handle the manufacturing of the medals. We are therefore seeking a "creative mind": an artist capable of imagining a strong, unique 3D design that will then be brought to life by our manufacturer.
The selected artist will be tasked with creating a work that captures the essence of Quebecois winter, the beauty of our territory, and the vibrant energy of the National Capital region.
In addition to a $2,000 honorarium, the selected artist will benefit from pan-Canadian visibility, notably through a medal unveiling video that will showcase their creative process. The object of their work will be awarded more than 1,200 times over the 16 days of competition, remaining forever etched in the country’s sporting history.
Artists residing in the province of Quebec (with a preference given to those in the National Capital region) are invited to submit their portfolio and letter of intent before February 20, 2026.
This is your chance to leave your mark on history. Do you have the inspiration to forge the legend?
