Québec - The City of Québec has announced the appointment of the chair and members of the Board of Directors of the Canada Games Host Society, which will be held in the winter of 2027 in the provincial capital.
Denis Servais, president of the Corporation de gestion du Centre de glaces Intact Assurance de Québec and president of Sport'Aide, is the new chair. He is joined on the Board by the following members:
Together, these individuals are the first members of the Host Society, a nonprofit organization whose role is to plan, organize, and host the 2027 Canada Games.
"Starting today, Québec will feel the mounting excitement of the Canada Games," said Jean-François Gosselin, Executive Committee member with responsibility for the Canada Games. "The members of the Host Society Board of Directors are already hard at work, and Ville de Québec has every confidence in their ability to organize this one-of-a-kind Canadian sports event. Speaking personally, I can’t wait to see the first steps take shape."
Ville de Québec has also confirmed that the plan for hosting the 2027 Games is progressing well. The municipality submitted its duly completed plan to the Canada Games Council on September 1. Now that the hosting plan has been delivered and the Host Society has taken the lead in organizing the Games, the challenge has officially begun!
Québec is set to host the 31st Canada Winter Games in 2027, marking a return to the birthplace of the Games 60 years after the inaugural event.
The Canada Games are the largest amateur multisport competition in the country, bringing together thousands of remarkable able-bodied athletes and athletes with disabilities every two years, alternating between summer and winter.
