As preparations for the 2027 Canada Games gain momentum, another exciting milestone in the countdown has been reached with the unveiling of Kebby, the official mascot. Embodying the energy and team spirit of the Games, Kebby will accompany the public on the road to the winter of 2027 and light up Quebec City with enthusiasm.
Born from a public contest launched last spring, the mascot is the creation of Anna Munroe, a resident of Sainte-Foy—Sillery—Cap-Rouge. From nearly 800 drawings received, her concept captured the jury’s imagination. It was inspired by the ermine, a small, lively, and clever animal.
A powerful symbol of Quebec’s northern identity, the ermine sports a white coat in winter, reflecting the beauty and vitality of the cold season. Like the Canada Games athletes, it represents speed, agility, resilience, and cleverness. The ermine also recalls La Petite Hermine, one of Jacques Cartier’s ships whose final destination was Quebec City during his 1535 voyage.
With a short, memorable, and unifying name, Kebby is a warm nod to the host city of the 2027 Canada Games.
“We are proud to welcome the newest member of the 2027 Canada Games family: Kebby! More than just a mascot, Kebby embodies the joy, pride, and team spirit that will animate Quebec. Between now and then, it will be by our side, inspiring young and old alike and uniting the entire community around this major sporting celebration.”
- Denis Servais, President, 2027 Canada Games Host Society
Over the next 18 months, Kebby will travel throughout the Quebec region to meet the public. The mascot will take part in the community, sports, and cultural events, spreading energy, smiles, and team spirit wherever it goes. As a true symbol of unity and pride, Kebby will connect citizens, the sports community, and the extended Canada Games family.
“As we mark 500 days until the 2027 Canada Games, it’s exciting to welcome Kebby, an energetic mascot who will bring fun, pride, and community spirit to the Canada Games family! Kebby is ready to unite us from coast to coast to coast, inspiring young Canadians to dream big and shine bright. The Government of Canada is proud to support these Games, which celebrate our shared values, promote inclusion, and ignite the passion for sport and teamwork. Let’s get ready to cheer, celebrate, and show the world the unbeatable spirit of Canada!”
- The Honourable Adam van Koeverden, Secretary of State (Sport)
“500 days out from the Canada Games, Quebec is getting ready to welcome the nation’s top athletes, their teams, and to impress visitors and viewers from near and far. Our winter landscapes are among the most beautiful in the world, and our sports facilities are a great source of pride for our community. I’m already looking forward to running into Kebby all around the city and spreading the Games fever with it as we make our way toward the winter of 2027.”
- Bruno Marchand, Mayor of Quebec City
